Rihanna’s long awaited new makeup line Fenty Beauty is finally here and of course I had to get my hands on it and write my review! I figured I would get what was missing in my makeup collection first and wait until next month to get the rest.
In this article, I will review: the Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter in Trophy Wife, the Shimmer Skinstick in Rum, and the Gloss Bomb. I was tempted to get almost everything, but I have a beauty budget for each month which I try not to exceed (trying to be a responsible adult here…).
Next month I will try to get my hands on: the Soft Matte Longwear Foundation, the Cheek-hugging highlighter brush, the Matte Skinstick, the Invisimatte bloating powder and probably another Shimmer Skinstick. I will also do a full face of Fenty Beauty makeup.
Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter in Trophy Wife
Shine bright like a diamond! This product was probably the most hyped out of all the items in the collection and for a very good reason! This highlighter is described as a “3D hyper-metallic gold”, which you can use on your eyes, cheeks, collarbones and anywhere else you want to add an out-of-this-world-glow to stop traffic.
I personally like to use it on my eyes for some extra shine. I absolutely love glittery golden eyeshadows and this is just what I needed for a dramatic effect and to add extra dimension on my lids.
It is highly pigmented, lasts for a long time (8 hours) and is extremely easy to apply.
Shimmer Skinstick in Rum
This is my first time using a stick highlighter, and I absolutely loved it! This color looks very soft and natural on my skin tone (I’m a medium/tan). It also adds extra shine and warmth to my face. It’s very creamy and thus very easy to apply and blend.
The Sephora sales assistant advised me to add a powder highlighter on top of it for some extra shine. But I personally prefer a subtle highlight. However, I’m not against trying this method for a special occasion.
This is the gloss I’ve been waiting for all my life! I’ve been on the lookout for a lip topper that was not too shiny, not too sticky and not too colored. Rihanna did an incredible job with the formula and the coloration which makes this gloss extremely flattering on all types of skin colors and lips. It is a universal gloss which looks perfect on its own for the minimal makeup days but also on top of any lipstick you would like to wear. It also smells amazing!
I’m in love with the nude packaging which is very minimal, feminine and sturdy. I love the magnetic sticks which will make your makeup bag/drawer less messy. Also, since the packaging is hexagonal and not rounded, the products won’t easily roll and fall off your vanity (a small detail but very noticable for a clumsy girl like me).
The prices are on the medium side of the spectrum and are very reasonable. The products that I bought were worth every single penny (take my coin Rihanna!). Especially considering the great quality, the gorgeous packaging and the amount of product that you get.
Thank you, Rihanna, for coming up with a makeup line that is inclusive of all types of skin tones. Launching 40 shades of foundation from the get go and including several different women in the promotions is something that resonated as a true awakening call in the beauty world.
This is a very cohesive collection so far and I can’t wait to see what will be added in the future (even more darker shades?). Work work work work work Riri!
