This article is long-overdue and I’m very sorry for not publishing it sooner. A lot of changes happened in my life in the first month of 2019 and I needed some time to adjust. This post is also very long and thorough which is why it took me some time to publish it.

As promised, here’s my long list of favorite makeup products in 2018. It was quite hard for me to pick these out as I tried so many great products last year. However, I did manage to narrow it down to the ones I actually used consistently throughout the year. I also added an honorable mentions list because I couldn’t bring myself to leave those products out 😅

Let me know in the comments if any of these products were your personal favorite and please feel free to share with me the ones you think rocked your 2018 💗

Primer: Primed and Peachy – Too Faced

Although my favorite primer is still the Pro Filt ́r Primer from Fenty Beauty I wanted to give a special mention to the Primed and Peachy primer. I was already a huge fan of the Peach Perfect foundation so it made perfect sense I would love this for my base. It mattifies, blurrs, brightens and it feels very fresh on the skin. It helps my oily skin and my foundation stay put.

Foundation: Peach Perfect – Too Faced

My one and only. I honestly thought nothing could dethrone my Fenty Beauty Pro Filtr’ foundation (and don’t get me wrong I still ADORE that foundation). However, this foundation is everything I wanted for an everyday use. A light/medium natural matte coverage that controls my excess sebum, doesn’t cake up and feels extraordinarily comfortable on the skin.

This is it. Too Faced managed to deliver something that has, in my humble opinion, been lacking in the market for people with oily skin who wanted a natural skin-like finish. I’m so glad I no longer have to feel lost navigating between foundations with a matte yet full-coverage finish or dewy, super hydrating light foundations.

I only get compliments whenever I have it on. It’s also my husband’s favorite because it gives me that perfect “peau de pĂȘche” (pun intended) and it smells amazing.

Concealer: Too Faced Born This Way Super Coverage concealer.

Trust me, I didn’t mean to make this a Too Faced holy trinity but I can’t help it, almost everything they put out this year was a win for me. I’m extremely picky when it comes to covering up my dark circles. This concealer is full-coverage, creamy and very easy to blend. I also love how it doesn’t dry out my under eyes and gently hydrates my skin while still staying put the entire day.

Powder: Laura Mercier Translucent powder

It has been my go to for the whole entire year. It mattifies, leaves the skin silky smooth, it’s very light-weight and sets my makeup for the entire day. This is the powder I used for my wedding and it really helped control my excess oils and acted like a filter on my face. Towards the end of the year I started using the Peach Perfect mattifying setting powder. It’s not as silky as the Laura Mercier powder but still performs very well. I’ve been using both but still have a slight preference for the Laura Mercier powder.

Eyeshadow: ABH Soft Glam palette / Hourglass Foil eyeshadow

My favorite eyeshadow palette, hands down! I found myself reaching for it over and over again throughout the whole year. I have been using it so much you can even see I already hit pan in one of the shadows (Burnt Orange). This is the palette I’ve been dreaming of, it has all the matte warm browns and gorgeous shimmery shades I need to create an everyday look or a smokey eye. All the shadows are pigmented and easy to blend, no fuss just pure goodness.

If you’re looking for a golden shimmery eyeshadow that will make a gorgeous glittery impact on the eyes try the Hourglass Scattered Light Glitter eyeshadow in Foil. It’s infused with multifaceted pearls which look absolutely gorgeous once the light hits your eyelids. I like to apply this one with my ring finger and a spritz of M.A.C fix + for an easy application.

Mascara: Glossier Lash Slick

I’ve been using the l’OrĂ©al TĂ©lescopique mascara for years now, and I honestly didn’t think I would find a mascara that could replace it. I’m always on the look out for mascaras that give separation and length. The one mascara that captured my heart this year was the Glossier Lash Slick. It defines and lengthens my lashes and also holds the curl! The brush is flexible and rubbery with tiny bristles that grab every single lash. It doesn’t flake nor smudge. I haven’t been using anything else, although sometimes I like to add a volumizing mascara (Monsieur Big from LancĂŽme) on top just to give more drama to my lashes.

Eyeliner: Fenty Beauty – Flyliner in Cuz I’m Black

Riri has done it again, this liner is ultra black, water-resistant and super easy to apply. Fenty Beauty products took up most of my favorites list in 2017 so I’m very excited to try their new concealer, highlighters and setting powders this new year.

Liquid glitter eyeliner/eyeshadow: Stila Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow in Gold Goddess / Urban Decay Heavy Metal Midnight eyeliner Cowboy

My love for glitter eyeshadows and eyeliners will probably never stop. I used the Stila glitter liquid eyeshadow in Golden Goddess all over my lids for my wedding. It didn’t budge, it didn’t crease and it was the perfect WOW touch. I love using the Urban Decay eyeliner on my lower lash line for an extra sparkly touch.

Eyebrows: Benefit Precisely my brows in 4.5 / 24h Brow setter

I don’t really do much with my eyebrows because they’re already very thick and bushy to begin with. However, I do like to define them a little. I was happy when Benefit Cosmetics launched new shades for their Precisely My Brow Pencil. Number 4 was too warm for me and number 5 was a bit too cool and dark. 4.5 is the perfect neutral medium brown I was looking for. The pencil is so nice and creamy and ultra-fine to define the eyebrows. The 24Hour Brow Setter Gel holds my bushy/coarse eyebrow hairs into place and I can easily create a feathery look thanks to its thin bristles. With these combo my brows are done and fierce in a minute!

Bronzer: JLO X Inglot Cocoa bronzer

Jennifer Lopez was on of my idols growing up. She has always been a beauty icon to me and the reason why I use and abuse bronzer and highlighter as an adult now. When I heard about her collaboration with Inglot I knew I had to get my hands on some of the products she released. I settled for the bronzer in Cocoa 1 and the highlighter which I’ll talk about further down. The bronzer is a perfect neutral brown that is perfect to contour but also warm enough to warm up my complexion. It also glides on so nicely on the skin and defines my face in a matter of a few brush strokes. It’s a must try if you want that J-Lo chiseled look!

Luminous Bronzer: Hourglass – Radiant Bronze Light

This bronzer is a must for me, it adds a beautiful warm and luminous veil to my face. I’ve had a lot of people asking me about my contour/bronzer routine on Instagram and this is honestly the secret to my bronzed sun kissed look, I can’t do without it.

Blush: Dior Rouge Blush in MISS 047

Dior’s Rouge blushes are some of the best on the market. This one looks very intense in the pan but it applies so smoothly and evenly on my skin and gives the perfect flushed look. I have been reaching for this one a lot, it really suits many different types of eye looks and lipsticks. It also lasts for a really long time considering how oily my cheeks can be.

Highlighter: Tom Ford – Reflect Gilt / Fenty Beauty – Diamond Bomb in How Many Carats

In 2018 I had my fair share of highlighters, however two highlighters really stood out for me this year. Tom Ford’s Reflect Gilt was my wedding highlighter and goes on my skin so lovely without emphasizing any texture or pores but still adding the most beautiful glow to the high points of my face.

The Diamond bomb highlighter from Fenty Beauty is a show stopper. If you want to sparkle and glitter like an angel that has fallen from heaven then this is it. I love dusting this on my eyes, face and body to feel extra special.

Face palette: Hourglass Ambient Lightning Edit – Unlocked

Face palettes were my best discovery this year. Everything you need in one compact palette you can take with you anywhere. Hourglasses powders are some of my favorites for their silky and smooth texture. In my opinion the Hourglass Ambient Lightning Edit has the best value for your money. You get 2 finishing powders, a gorgeous bronzer, 2 amazing blushes and a highlighter, all very well formulated and pigmented.

Eyelash curler: Shiseido

Best eyelash curler, it takes my whole lashes and holds the curl beautifully the entire day.

Fix Spray: M.A.C Fix+ Rose

The M.A.C fix + Rose is a delight and helps in smoothing out my makeup and making it last a lot longer. If you feel like your makeup is a bit too cakey, spray this on your face and it will immediately smooth out your makeup.

Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Lipstick in Bombshell – Probably my most used lipstick of the year. It’s super long-wearing but not too drying. It really gives me the perfect pout when paired with the lip pencil in the same color.

Chanel Rouge Velvet in Rouge Vie – My husband bought me this lipstick for my birthday and it is one of my favorite reds and the formula is amazing. It’s matte but glides on the lips easily and is not drying at all. The packaging is also gorgeous, classic Chanel.

Hourglass Girl Stylo in Peacemaker – My favorite nude creamy lipstick, perfect for everyday. It’s pigmented enough and the formula is super hydrating as well. The packaging is also gorgeous and whenever I pull this baby out of my purse everybody asks me what I’m using!

Fenty Beauty Gloss in Fu$$y – Gloss Bomb was already on of my favorites it only made sense I would love this one as well. Honestly I can’t get enough of Fenty glosses. This one has more of a pinkish color, and I can’t count how many times somebody has asked me what I’m wearing on my lips. The shine and the juiciness this gloss brings to your lips can’t be compared. I also use it as my lip-balm, it contains the right amount of shea butter to moisturize your lips.
